Counselling for Adults

What I can offer you and what to expect in counselling

Many people come to counselling once they realise something isn’t right in their life and things feel out of control. You may not know what you want help for exactly, or you might have something specific you want help with, and both are good reasons to seek help.

Counselling will help you understand yourself and your situation better, and give you the opportunity to take more control over how you react and cope with situations, to make changes, and to enable you to feel more resourced for the future.

I work as an integrative counsellor, which means I draw from  a number of different theoretical models of counselling (such as the humanistic frameworks of Gestalt, Person-Centred Counselling and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) to find the most appropriate and creative way of supporting my clients as individuals.

As your counsellor I can help you find realistic ways forward with a wide range of difficulties you may be facing, such as anxiety, stress, grief, bereavement and loss, including the loss of an infant, low self-esteem, depression, self-harm, suicidal thinking, trauma, abuse, relationship and family issues, and difficulties in the workplace. I am experienced in supporting university students who are having difficulties with any of these issues as well as in academic studies or adjusting to university life.

I am experienced in counselling people who have learning difficulties or disabilities, including autism, and will accommodate your needs to give you the best possible experience of counselling.
